Bio

I’ve been illustrating in the field of children’s trade books and educational textbooks since 1984. Most of the time I've freelanced, though I worked briefly for several greeting card companies along the way--the Drawing Board in Dallas, TX, Henri Fayette in Chicago, and Current, Inc. and the Hallmark Studio in Colorado Springs, CO. I’ve liked to wander and have lived and worked in various cities including Seattle, Chicago, Colorado Springs, New York, Los Angeles, and now Santa Fe. So far, I have 37 illustrated picture books for HarperCollins, Houghton Mifflin, Dutton, Holiday House, Henry Holt, Simon & Schuster, Random House, Scholastic, and Golden Books, and have written several of my own illustrated verses for various magazines of the Cricket Group.
I’m inspired by old comics, old cartoonists work, japanese prints, decorative art.
