Kathleen Kemly grew up in Michigan and studied art at Parsons School of Design in New York. After working in toy packaging design in NY for a few years she began moving west, eventually landing in Seattle where she now lives with her husband, two sons, various animals (two cats, one guinea pig and three chickens) and garden. Kathleen does illustrations for children’s books, magazines and posters using watercolors and pastels. She has exhibited her pastel drawings in Seattle. Kathleen also works with children as an artist in residence for elementary and middle school students. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and a recipient of the Seattle Arts Council Arts in Education Grant.
