David Opie earned his BFA in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. A decade later he got his master's degree in illustration from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. His illustrations have appeared in such publications as Family PC, Keyboard Magazine, LA Times, Providence Journal, Providence Phoenix, Publishers Weekly, Rhode Island Monthly, Spider Magazine, Sports Illustrated for Kids, and Weekly Reader. He has worked for many educational publishers, including Celebration Press, Houghton Mifflin, Macmillan, McGraw-Hill, National Geographic School Publishing, and Scholastic. And JD Publishing has just published a children's picture book that he illustrated. He also teaches at the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago. David currently lives in Chicago with his wife and their dog.
